BT starts price war
BT is seeking to undercut British Sky Broadcasting on the price of premier league matches, says Financial Times.
BT Vision, Virgin Media and Top Up TV recently campaigned to break BSkyB's hold on football and other premium content, to set up rival packages, after reaching an out-of-court settlement with BSkyB and the UK broadcasting regulator Ofcom.
Under the terms of the settlement, BSkyB will sell at the price it currently charges Virgin Media, its only wholesale customer, which is 10% to 23% higher than the levels set by Ofcom.
Samsung hits Oz 3D TV market
Samsung is the only manufacturer to have 3D TVs on the Australian market in time for Channel Nine's 3D broadcast of the State of Origin, states PCWorld.
The manufacturer predicts a high demand for its 3D TVs from fans interested in testing a new way of watching sport.
“Being first to market, we will also be the first TV through which Australians can enjoy this 3D broadcast experience. It will be a landmark occasion in Australian broadcasting history,” says Mark Leathan, Samsung Australia's head of marketing.
OFTA cautions against illegal broadcasting
The Office of the Telecommunications Authority (OFTA) in Hong Kong says it is a criminal offence under the Telecommunications Ordinance for any person to knowingly participate in illegal radio broadcasting, according to 7th Space.
The response comes during a series of election forums for the 2010 legislative council by-election.
"We are aware that some candidates of the 2010 legislative council by-election have been invited to participate in a series of election forums to be broadcast through an unlicensed radio channel in early May," says the OFTA.
