Local value-added reseller and Gold Overland Storage Partner, Bytes Technology Storage (BTS), a division of Bytes Technology Networks, is pleased to announce that Overland Storage has officially been named the world leader in iSCSI-based disk-to-disk storage.
According to a viewpoint released by the Enterprise Strategy Group (ESG), Overland Storage has shipped more units and terabytes of iSCSI-based disk-to-disk storage than any other vendor, outstripping the competition. The independent report highlights the company`s REO 4000 high performance disk-based backup and recovery appliance and states that Overland has "smartly combined D2D backup, iSCSI and SATA drives within an appliance that has a price/performance ratio that is hard to beat".
Says Mike Broderick, Director at BTS: "There is a massive growth in both interest and adoption of iSCSI disk-to-disk backup solutions in the local market space, and the reports findings highlights to BTS that we have selected the right technology partner to fulfil the growing needs of our clients."
A recent ESG report stated that 66% of IT professionals felt that backups take too long. Broderick says this is a problem which can be quickly overcome should a company invest in a high-performance disk-based appliance like those currently available from Overland. In Broderick`s experience, the disk-based solutions accelerate backup speeds, improve performance and have unparalleled times for data restore at a price tag which is a fraction of the price of other commercially available solutions.
ESG was also quoted as stating that the Overland REO 4000 has the potential for wide market adoption, from 2004 onwards.
The REO 4000 is a pre-configured, easy-to-install storage appliance, bundled with intelligent software, hardware and has both iSCSI and Fibre Channel connectivity. The product also supports optional RAID capability, and is able to operate as either disk or virtual tape, which is becoming increasingly popular in the local market space as it provides greater performance at a lower total cost of ownership.
"We are delighted to be associated with Overland Storage and its products have provided an invaluable component to the storage solutions we offer our clients. Although the solutions we at BTS offer are not technology but rather business-driven, we still view it as essential to align ourselves with leaders in their respective fields. By leaders we do not always mean those who are first to market, but rather those whose solutions are of the best quality and at the right price," ends Broderick.
