Business Connexion appointed ProClarity reseller

Johannesburg, 12 Dec 2002

Harvey Jones Systems (HJS) has appointed black empowerment organisation Business Connexion a ProClarity, ISM and Idt Loader for SAP reseller.

Business Connexion will work in conjunction with other Harvey Jones Systems partners, which include the consulting firms Accenture and KPMG.

"Harvey Jones Systems` strategic alliances with service focused companies ensure that we have the ability to execute second to none. Coupled with cost of ownership, these are the primary motivators in our market today," says Bruce Krebs, marketing director at Business Connexion.

ProClarity is a business intelligence (BI) tool that enables faster, better decision-making while making IT organisations more productive by delivering analytical data visualisation and collaborative technologies optimised for Microsoft server and desktop environments. The solution is open, customisable, component-based and extensible. It comes in three packaged flavours: ProClarity Desktop; Business Reporter, which is an Excel add-in; and ProClarity Analytical Server. These solutions will also deploy seamlessly within a Microsoft Office 2000 environment.

Idt Loader is an open architecture SAP extraction, transformation and loading (ETL) solution that unlocks the data in SAP systems through a simple wizard process.

"The combined ProClarity/Idt solution empowers users through familiar interfaces. It offers advanced data visualisation, and open, flexible architecture, low total cost of ownership, reduced development time and allows users to use existing knowledge in their Microsoft environment," says Keith Jones, MD of Harvey Jones Systems.

Business Connexion creates and delivers IT solutions based on Microsoft technology, focusing on unlocking organisational efficiencies, future potential and profit through applying this technology, often achieving maximum leverage from existing investments.

The business focuses on four core components: managed support, Microsoft .Net custom solutions, Microsoft licensing and enterprise consulting services.

"Our core business centres on Microsoft licensing, the roll-out of Microsoft infrastructure, the deployment of Microsoft technology to facilitate design and construction of business solutions and the ongoing managed support of Microsoft elements within the business," says Krebs.

Following hot on the heels of its recent success with its SAP road show, Business Connexion will offer SAP clients a cost-effective, truly open solution to unlock the data in their organisation that makes use of existing technology to present it to users.

SAP customers have traditionally not had a choice in what tools they use to deliver SAP system data to other systems in the organisation. Business Connexion, with its Microsoft BizTalk technology, in conjunction with Harvey Jones Systems` ProClarity and Idt Loader, gives them this option. Idt Loader is SAP certified and enables customers to interact with data in a batch processing environment while BizTalk offers this to them in real-time.

"We`ve taken a can opener to the SAP market. The days of writing extensive ABAP code to extract data are over, which is traditionally where much of the maintenance spend on SAP has been. The local market is unique in that companies seek to enhance their return on investment while reducing foreign currency exposure. The ability to deploy solutions within the Microsoft framework at a fraction of the cost of ownership of other solutions achieves this goal," says Jones.

He adds that customers are moving away from big bang deployment approaches and instead are looking for instant results on specific deployments throughout the enterprise.

"BI has traditionally been one of the highest shelfware industries in the world, with one vendor`s product sitting at 67%, but emphasis has now shifted to delivering true return on investment and business benefit. Today vendors have to prove the viability and success of their solution before they can deploy it into the enterprise," concludes Jones.
