Business Unusual launches SunSystems 5

Johannesburg, 06 Jun 2001

iLanga Systems, the South African distributor of SunSystems and a company in the Business Unusual group, has announced the launch of SunSystems 5. The financial and business management software suite is designed for use by major organisations operating globally.

The package is aimed at international businesses that need to share and integrate financial and business information from offices located in more than one country. It complements the 4.2.6 version which will continue to be supported by iLanga Systems.

"As trade barriers come down and companies trade more widely across the globe there is an overriding need for financial systems that enable companies to do business in an array of languages and currencies," says iLanga Systems MD, Dion Retief. "The new SunSystems suite allows major businesses to do just that."

SunSystems 5 offers great flexibility, Web-based reporting, high scalability and the ability to link with third-party applications via SunSystems Connect, an integration toolset. The software has a new Windows interface and its multi-lingual, multi-currency features maintain the strengths of existing SunSystems products.

Its features have been enhanced to reflect the growing requirements of global businesses. It has dual base currency - where three currencies can be held against any transaction - and a multi-lingual data dictionary so that users can alter terms to suit their needs. A new order fulfilment function gives greatly increased functionality in purchasing, sales and inventory management.

These features along with its enhanced transaction analysis features allow for more powerful real-time reporting on financial transactions. This means that management no longer has to wait for financial information - it is always available and analysed according to the business`s key performance indicators.

"Many functions can be tailored to an individual`s needs and the software can cope with different reporting requirements and exceptions within an organisation," adds Retief.

New features of SunSystems 5 include:

  • .         Control desk - a one-stop shop for making enquiries and processing transactions from a single user-defined display.

  • .         Web-based reporting - enables reports to be accessed and delivered remotely.

  • .         Form designer - allows users to create an unlimited number of their own forms with easy to use translation facilities.

  • SunSystems is used by customers in 187 countries. It can work in an unlimited number of currencies and is available in 27 languages.

Customers who currently use SunSystems software include Standard Chartered Bank, BP Amoco, Hilton International, Lego SA and International SOS.

"SunSystems 5 further enhances the functionality, ease of use, ease of integration and multi-platform capability that has gained the software suite the endorsement of the international corporate market," says Retief. "It is unique in its class and represents a new dawn for the global financial community."
