Xerox's new ColorQube 8870 offers exceptional cost of ownership advantages through its solid ink technology that generates 90% less waste, is 30% more energy efficient, and has a 30% smaller carbon footprint than comparable laser printers.
The ColorQube offers the best available total cost of ownership for office environments that print four reams or more per month. A study reviewed by the Rochester Institute of Technology estimated that the ColorQube series uses 9% less life cycle energy and produces 10% fewer greenhouse gases than a comparable laser device. But, more significantly, in live use tests, the cartridge-free solid ink technology produced just 18kg of printing waste after printing 12 500 pages every month for four years, while a standard laser printer produced 151kg.
“The ColorQube 8870 prints up to 40 pages per minute, so it's a fast machine for busy offices; it prints in colour and black-and-white, so it's ideal for business proposals, reports, general office documents, fliers, e-mail, and spreadsheets,” says Ernest Leong, product manager of OPB in Bytes Document Solutions' Xerox division.
Solid ink is a colour technology that employs a solid stick of ink instead of the liquid ink in typical cartridges or toners in drums. It is mess-free, non-toxic, it's easy to use, produces high quality colour and black-and-white images, it's extremely cost-effective, and it's good for the environment.
It was first introduced in 1991, won several awards at the time, and the first products, the Phaser range of multifunction printers, were produced using it in 2007.
The ColorQube 8870 is the second ColorQube, following the ColorQube 8850, to use solid ink technology.
The ColorQube solid ink printer produces consistent colour prints, regardless of media type, with features including:
* Color by Words colour-matching technology that improves colour accuracy and lets users select from a unique menu of words, such as “red apple”, “blue sky” or “green grass”, to fine-tune the colours they want.
* The tool is now available in additional languages, including French, Spanish and Portuguese.
* Crisp text and sharp colour images with Adobe Postscript3 and PANTONE colour-approved simulations.
* High-quality colour prints with advanced colour matching capabilities and 2400 FinePoint image quality.
Users can also integrate the ColorQube into a number of software solutions such as Xerox CentreWare Web, which offers multi-vendor output device management, Xerox Global print Driver, which is one universal print driver that allows printing to most printers and multifunction printers, and Xerox Mobile Express Driver, that allows mobile users to print to virtually any device with one universal print driver.
