Bytes Document Solutions, authorised Xerox distributor to 27 sub-Saharan countries, concluded sales at the recent Africa Print 2010 to the approximate value of R3.5 million, demonstrating that printing remains the preferred means of personalised communication.
The company also used the show to launch the new Xerox Colour 1000 Press, which attracted great interest and its outstanding capabilities held a constant stream of visitors enthralled.
“Trade shows have always proven to be successful for us, both in terms of closing orders and generating qualified leads,” says Paul Haglich, marketing manager production systems group at Bytes Document Solutions.
“The cost of being at the shows has been recovered from sales at the shows and shortly thereafter, typically within three months. The exposure, awareness creation and brand building benefits are an essential outcome of the shows, as well as the opportunity to meet visitors from other African countries and South African provinces. We often generate business from those contacts which would otherwise be lost.”
Bytes Document Solutions exhibited a number of systems and solutions at the show, including a total digital solution for the printing industry, encompassing variable data tools, pre-press workflow automation tools, digital printing equipment, finishing equipment and the Xerox Profit Accelerator business development tools.
Its monochrome printing solutions exhibited included the 4112 Copier Printer Pro with booklet maker, stapling, 2/4 whole punch and C/Z folder. There was also the Nuvera 288 Digital Perfecting System with inline tape binder for finishing and the Continuous Feed 495 Printer.
Bytes Document Solutions also demonstrated its colour management solutions from CMI and CGS. Colour management experts demonstrated how the tools can be used to create accurate and repeatable colour profiles for digital presses to produce impressions that meet FOGRA standards and match the output across various presses - be they digital or offset. There was also a range of wide format printers and scanners on display.
The XMPie multimedia, personalised, 1-to-1 communication software was demonstrated to visitors by registering them on the stand before it created and printed personalised calendars for them. It was then used to send them an SMS thanking them for visiting the stand.
“We also demonstrated the Mphoto solution for photobook production and a new Web-to-print solution that will be launched into the market shortly,” says Haglich. “Customers can now opt to rent various software solutions on a contract basis from hosted services provider Silverline and even leave the development of specific marketing campaigns to their team of specialists.”
Also on the stand was Bytes Document Solutions business NOR Paper, demonstrating the organisation's end-to-end document, graphic arts, and commercial printer service provider capabilities suited to not only the digital market but also providing substrates to the offset litho press environment.
