Bytes has multiple wins at Altron Annual Awards

Johannesburg, 25 Jul 2011

Bytes Technology Group won multiple prizes at the recent Altron Annual Awards. The jewel in Bytes' crown was when Bytes People Solutions was named the company with the best BEE initiative in the Altron group. The other nominees were Powertech Transformers, Technology Integrated Solutions and Altech UEC.

Bytes Document Solutions won the Altron Environmental Award in recognition of the exceptional work done by Hennie du Plessis and his predecessor Rob Abraham, and their respective management teams.

In this regard, the official distributor of Xerox to 27 African countries beat Powertech IST, the Byte Your Tongue Toastmasters, Bona Lesedi vegetable project in Diepsloot, and the Powertech Batteries Group.

Bytes Managed Solutions, the distributor for NCR in South Africa and elsewhere in Africa, and provider of desktop managed services, was named the Best Company in Bytes, beating Bytes Healthcare Solutions, Bytes Systems Integration and UK-based Bytes Software Services.

Bytes Systems Integration, headed by Rob Griggs, was named the most improved company in the Bytes Technology Group. In the last year, the company acquired a majority stake in TSPI, a sales performance company headed by Geoff Garrett, which had a direct impact on the bottom line. This is expected to continue well into the next financial year.

Abraham, Bytes CEO, had the difficult task of making his award, and from Tony Monik, Nicole Goodacre and the Retail ATM Management Team at Bytes Managed Solutions, he chose the retail team.

“These awards are a critical part of recognising the input into the overall excellence of Bytes as a group,” says Abraham. “We are never short of candidates and the excellence of our group as a whole is reflected in the fact that we have performed with distinction against other Altron luminaries.

“We are particularly pleased with the environmental award for Bytes Document Solutions and the BEE award for Bytes People Solutions. They demonstrate beyond any doubt that when we set our sights on a particular objective, we can and will achieve it,” adds Abraham.
