Bytes installs world-class AV system in conference centre

Bytes Conference Centre has installed a new 4m x 3m front projection screen and Epson data projector. This is fully compatible with the centre's existing Crestron control system, which is a sophisticated touch-screen that controls each and every aspect of the existing audiovisual (AV) equipment, lighting, DSTV and DVD.

It replaces the existing rear projection screen and projector that were previously in place, which had become outdated.

Paul Campbell, operations manager at the centre in Midrand, says the investment was made for a number of reasons:

Bookings for the auditorium are the centre's most lucrative source of revenue. “We treat this facility and all our other function rooms with great care to provide equipment that doesn't 'fall over'. Our client base is generally quality-driven and expects the best available equipment at its disposal.

“This gives us an edge over venues where conferencing is not their core business, such as hotels and wedding venues. We often have feedback from a new client that our equipment is better than some of the venues they have previously utilised.

“On any site inspection, we include a projection demo in the auditorium, and without fail, this will lead to confirmation of the booking enquiry.”

The biggest benefit for clients, adds Campbell, is the assurance that their projected presentations will be of a very high standard, with true colour projection and clear sound.

“Clients enjoy significant cost savings as all of our equipment is offered at no additional cost. Our microphones, both lapel and handheld, the laptop, mobile mouse and laser pointer are all included in our full-day and half-day packages, along with venue hire. This is further enhanced by the fact that we offer technical support throughout the full duration of clients' presentations.”

In addition, the entire centre is WiFi-enabled, and the centre recently upgraded its Vista Room to a fibre-optic network. This room is often used for training requiring Internet access, and since the upgrade, this has conferred total peace of mind, with no unpredictable disruptions due to cable theft.

“For the centre, high quality of our AV equipment means ongoing praise for GM Marlene Haig, along with the quality of the cuisine and the centre as a whole,” Campbell concludes.
