Computer Associates International, Inc today announced "day one" support for IBM`s z/OS and z/OS.e version 1.6 across its Unicenter, eTrust, BrightStor, Advantage and AllFusion brands.
This continues CA`s unbroken record of same-day support for every release of the z/OS operating system. Through close cooperation with IBM during its z/OS Early Test Program, CA has upgraded its industry-leading portfolio of mainframe management solutions to support z/OS v1.6, which is designed to meet customers` evolving performance and scalability requirements.
z/OS v1.6 supports the zSeries Application Assist Processor (zAAP), a specialised and economical execution environment for Java, which can be leveraged by workloads with Java cycles, such as CA`s Unicenter NetMaster network management solutions. CA management solutions are also taking advantage of the new zArchitecture instructions and coding techniques in z/OS v1.6 to further optimise mainframe management.
"The strategic role of the mainframe continues to strengthen as customers leverage its power and performance to make the transition to on-demand IT architectures that can more closely and dynamically align with changing business priorities," said David Hodgson, senior vice president of mainframe systems product development at CA.
"CA`s same-day support for the important new capabilities of IBM`s z/OS v1.6 enables customers to continue making that transition in pursuit of greater operational efficiency, reduced exposure to risk, and optimised business value."
