Computer Associates International, Inc today extends its leadership in the worldwide identity and access management (IAM) market with the delivery of eTrust Identity and Access Management r8 Suite, a complete set of integrated, modular IAM solutions.
By streamlining and integrating all aspects of IAM, eTrust IAM r8 Suite uniquely enables customers to implement and automate effective management of users and their access to IT resources across today`s complex, heterogeneous enterprise environments.
IAM has become an increasingly critical issue as IT organisations attempt to manage access rights of a larger number and broader range of users - including employees, contractors, business partners and customers - to a larger number and broader range of resources - including legacy and distributed applications, databases, Web services and intranet/extranet Web sites.
The business value of these resources, combined with mounting cyberthreats and regulatory pressures, make it essential for IT to execute core IAM tasks with flawless precision.
eTrust IAM effectively addresses this growing challenge by enabling a common set of policies and automated workflows to be applied to all aspects of identity management and access control - making CA the first security vendor to deliver such seamless out-of-the-box integration across multiple IAM components.
"Due to the complexity of integrating the components of IAM solutions, Gartner has seen a significant increase in interest by enterprises in product suites owned or licensed by, and supported through, one vendor, as opposed to point solutions," said Gartner research director Ray Wagner.
The four tightly-integrated modules in the eTrust IAM Suite share infrastructure components, utilise a common user interface, and provide unified controls and reporting. The modules include:
* eTrust Admin r8.1 for role-based identity provisioning/de-provisioning and password management.
* eTrust Access Control r8 for enforcing role-based access privileges heterogeneous operating system platforms.
* eTrust Single Sign-on r8 for simplifying password administration.
* eTrust Directory r8 for managing identities and resources.
"As more users need access to a wider range of computing resources, it gets harder to keep IT from becoming a bottleneck while maintaining strict control over resource access," said Rizwan Ahmed, CIO, State of Louisiana Department of Natural Resources & Office of Group Benefits.
"To address this, IAM components must be integrated. We are excited about CA`s direction and suite announcement. With an integrated IAM suite, things like operational efficiencies, cost reductions and compliance become a reality." In addition to protecting corporate IT resources from unauthorised access and controlling the cost of IAM administration, eTrust IAM enables IT organisations to respond more quickly to authorisation requests - thereby ensuring IAM processes don`t slow down the business.
Enhancements to eTrust IAM Suite r8 include:
* Advanced workflow in eTrust Admin r8.1 that allows existing administrative mechanisms to be incorporated into new automated, template-based provisioning processes.
* An automated best-practice policy generation in eTrust Access Control r8 that includes pre-defined policies for common applications.
* Session management capabilities in eTrust Single Sign-on r8 that accommodate the sharing of workstations by multiple employees.
* Enhanced "virtual directory" capabilities in eTrust Directory r8 that route LDAP requests to multiple underlying directories, providing a single view of user identities, regardless of where their identity information resides.
"Fragmented, ineffective identity and access management is exposing businesses to unacceptable risk and creating operational inefficiencies that no IT organisation can afford," said Bilhar Mann, CA`s vice-president of eTrust Identity and Access Management. "CA`s eTrust IAM Suite r8 provides the answer to this problem by offering a cohesive, intuitively designed solution for intelligently managing the full range of IAM tasks and processes across even the most complex and heterogeneous enterprise environments."
eTrust Identity and Access Management Suite r8 will be available at the end of February. The suite will be showcased at the RSA Conference 2005 in San Francisco this week.
