CA gets Novell`s nod on NetWare 6

Johannesburg, 19 Aug 2002

Computer Associates (Africa) has received support from Novell for its BrightStor ARCserve Backup software, which is now integrated into the NetWare 6 Net services platform.

According to CA (Africa) storage brand manager, Dion Gerrans, the move will provide a comprehensive solution for data availability across heterogeneous networks, particularly in e-business environments.

"CA is the largest provider of backup software for NetWare, and the tight integration of CA`s BrightStor ARCserve Backup solution into the latest version of NetWare reflects both vendors` commitment to maintaining the highest standards for end-to-end e-business data protection," says Gerrans.

"The growth of e-business has created an explosion in the volume, diversity and uses of enterprise data. As companies move their core business processes online, the challenges associated with storing and managing this data - as well as enhancing its security and integrity - will increase dramatically.

"Today, the network is no longer just a technical issue; it`s a fundamental business concern. Customers are looking for the always-available reliability offered by this joint CA/Novell solution, which provides a compelling and cost-effective method of achieving this objective," he says.

Gerrans adds that cross-platform security, reliability, ease of administration and rapid recovery tools make BrightStor ARCserve Backup and NetWare a powerful combined solution for the demanding data storage requirements of the network-centric e-business enterprise.
