CA launches programme for OEM and system builder market

eTrust, BrightStor and Unicenter for SOHO, SMB and consumer markets
Johannesburg, 02 Jun 2004

Computer Associates Africa recently introduced a comprehensive programme that enables builders of "white box" PCs, servers and notebooks to deliver added value and differentiate their systems by leveraging the company`s security, storage and PC migration solutions.

The programme - designed exclusively for local as well as global OEM/System Builder partners - offers high margin opportunities, training and free technical support for partners when they include selected CA eTrust, BrightStor and Unicenter management software with their systems for SOHO (small office, home office), SMB (small and medium business) and other consumers.

"We value the reach and power of our system builder and OEM partners, who are increasingly facing the challenge to deliver complete and integrated system solutions in order to meet customer requirements," comments Matthew Barker, field partner manager at Computer Associates Africa.

"This new programme addresses the alternate routes to market strategy that CA is embracing as it makes its software available to new market segments." Under the programme, OEMs/system builders can differentiate their systems by using CA`s management software to simplify and automate critical functions such as virus protection, data backup and PC migration.

They can pre-install software on systems ("hard bundling") or deliver systems with CA software included in the package ("soft bundling").

Hard and soft bundling are available for eTrust Anti Virus, BrightStor ARCserve Backup for Windows, BrightStor ARCserve Backup for Laptops and Desktops, Unicenter Desktop DNA, as well as CA`s consumer software products eTrust EZ Antivirus and eTrust EZ Armor.

Qualified participants in the OEM/System Builder programme are also eligible for free phone-based technical support, free product training and streamlined access to both inside and field sales support.

OEM/System Builder programme is already available to South African partners. (ends)
