With this support, customers gain a high-performance, integrated and scaleable Network Data Management Protocol (NDMP) backup and recovery solution for Network Appliance in a Windows NT/2000 environment.
"Computer Associates offers customers diverse back up solutions and support for Data ONTAP 6.1, giving enterprises of any size the flexibility to backup their data in ways that fit their company needs," said Paul Hansen, senior director of marketing at Network Appliance.
"Together Network Appliance and CA share the common goal of providing robust, reliable storage solutions for today`s data-intensive enterprises."
BrightStor Enterprise Backup, the first product in CA`s new BrightStor storage line, fully supports the NDMP standard, which enables high-speed backup of a NetApp filer to a locally-attached tape drive or library.
BrightStor Enterprise Backup also leverages the data protection capabilities featured within the Network Appliance Data ONTAP operating system to offer filer-to-filer backups via NDMP. The combination of NetApp filers and BrightStor Enterprise Backup provides centralized administration and high-performance backup and recovery solution of large-scale network attached storage environments.
"To meet their continually expanding e-business storage requirements, customers require both new types of high-performance storage devices and increasingly advanced storage software solutions," said Philip Treide, vice president of marketing, storage solutions, CA. "By partnering with a storage hardware industry leader like Network Appliance, CA is once again demonstrating its commitment to forming the partnerships necessary to help customers succeed in meeting these critical infrastructure requirements."
BrightStor Enterprise Backup automates traditional backup and recovery tasks, significantly reducing the storage workloads on IT operations staff.
