Call Centre technology leader Rockwell opens in South Africa

Johannesburg, 20 May 2000

Rockwell Electronic Commerce, a global leader in call centre technology for over 20 years, has opened offices in South Africa for the first time in response to growing market opportunities here.

The company has established a dedicated local sales operation which will back up and build on the marketing and sales initiatives of VAR partners to ensure full market penetration.

Commenting on the opening, Rockwell managing director for EMEA, Carl Spurr, said South Africa had been identified as an important market with exciting growth potential as local companies realised the need to adopt new methods of communication for customer contact.

He added that the new office would concentrate initially on call centre solutions specifically, but would move on to providing total business solutions focused around client`s e-commerce strategies.

"Rockwell`s approach offers tremendous opportunities to deliver added value for both our clients and their customers," comments newly appointed general manager in South Africa, Gert Botha.

"Rockwell is committed to open call centre architecture, which means we can deliver integrated solutions to meet well defined business objectives," he adds.

"We have established a strong team here and, together with our partners, will be able to offer a fresh, jargon-free approach to the South African call centre industry.

"We will also be looking to further strengthen our position here through strategic business partnerships," he ends.

Rockwell`s leading edge electronic commerce solutions are based on advanced ACD and CTI technologies working together with collection and management systems, agent workstation applications and systems integration facilities.

Its Electronic Commerce division is exclusively focused on mission critical call centre and electronic commerce solutions, and is credited with delivery of the world`s first Automatic Call Distributor, the first stand-alone call centre, the first commercial digital switch, and the first Computer Integration application.

Rockwell Corporation itself employs more than 45 000 people world-wide and has total annual sales of around US$ 7 billion.
