Canadian PC market takes a knock
The overall Canadian client PC market is expected to decline this year by 13.4% year-over-year, according to ITBusiness.
The only area where the firm is expecting growth this year is in the consumer portable market space, which brings both good and bad news to the channel, according to IDC Canada.
Overall, unit volumes for the Canadian client PC market, which includes desktops and portable PCs and doesn't include x86 servers, were down 14% in the first quarter, compared to the same quarter last year.
Toshiba intros mini NB205
Toshiba's Digital Products Division (DPD) has introduced a small, low-weight, mobile computer called the Toshiba mini NB205, which makes it easy to stay connected to the Internet and transmit and receive media rich files, according to TMCnet.
It is Toshiba's first entry into the US mini notebook market, according to the company.
“We're raising the bar in the mini notebook category with a premium brand that truly delivers on the portability promise these companion PCs were originally designed for,” says Jeff Barney, VP and GM of Toshiba America Information Systems, DPD.
Low-cost SSD upgrades released
Kingston Technology has released the SSDNow V Series solid state drive (SSD) upgrade bundles, Enterpriser reports.
The SSDNow V Series upgrade bundles are targeted specifically for mass-market consumers and small and medium enterprises.
The upgrade bundles are available in 128GB and 64GB capacities and are the first products in a series of low-cost, value-driven SSD solutions for existing desktops and notebooks.
