Canon reveals Rebel

Canon introduced a camera with professional features for people looking to step up from their point-and-shoot models, but who would like to keep its ease-of-use features, says Information Week.

The EOS Rebel XS is billed as an entry-level product for people looking for a single-lens reflex camera.

The Rebel XS includes optical image stabilising technology that compensates for camera shake to deliver a clear image. The camera also incorporates Canon's DIGIC III image processor, a 10.1 megapixel CMOS sensor, an automatic lighting optimiser, and a wide-area auto-focus sensor.

PlotFactory gets Aquajet

Gandinnovations, a Swiss large-format print service provider, has installed its first European edition of the Jeti 3324 Aquajet at PlotFactory in Switzerland, says Graphic Repro.

This new direct-to-fabric digital printer only just made its debut at Drupa 08 and reportedly created a stir in the industry with its superior printing results on all kinds of fabric.

"The Aquajet enables us to print, slit, and seal in just one process. This is a tremendous advantage for us as we no longer need a separate sublimation machine. In the long run, this will save us time and resources and will also have a positive impact on the environment,' said Rinaldo Fochetti, MD of PlotFactory.

Xerox invents reusable paper

Xerox Research Centre of Canada, in collaboration with Palo Alto Research Center, has invented a way to print temporary documents, says Invention and Technology News.

The pages appear normal when they come off the printer, but gradually fade after a certain period of time.

This allows individuals to print e-mails or temporary content they need, and then use the paper again after the image has faded. Such technology could go a long way in conserving paper (and saving trees) on a daily basis.
