CompTIA (Computing Technology Association) is rapidly gaining a firm foothold in sub-Saharan Africa, owing to a growing membership base that includes leading international companies such as Canon`s Midrand-based regional sales and marketing office responsible for Sub-Saharan Africa.
The company is to sponsor CompTIA`s CDIA (Certified Document Imaging Architect) certification to its business partners located in Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Zimbabwe. Individuals from the various partners will visit SA to participate in the CDIA training.
Canon is an industry leader in professional and consumer imaging equipment and information systems. The company`s extensive product range enables businesses and consumers worldwide to capture, store, distribute and produce visual information. Canon products include full-colour and black and white copiers, printers, micrographics and document management systems, as well as an extensive range of other specialised industrial products.
"We believe that many of the emerging markets in Africa offer some of the greatest potential for growth in the coming years," says Bart Burghgraef, Canon`s Market Manager for Professional Services. "As such, we are working closely with our business partners to enhance their profile and our business activities in these areas.
"Canon established the sub-Saharan Africa office to better serve the growing markets on the African continent. Our role in Africa is to facilitate our business partners, who are all IT solution providers in their own right, to achieve market leadership position. It is due to the competence and knowledge of individuals within their company that ensures the competitive-edge and leadership in the marketplace. The CDIA certification provides a means to achieve that objective," Burghgraef added.
"The technology in the document imaging arena is becoming increasingly complex, and the only way to ensure competency in this field is through some form of industry recognised certification," he continues. "CompTIA`s certification is not only vendor-neutral but is also internationally recognised, which will enhance our business partners` credibility in the marketplace even further."
"Document imaging forms an essential part of an organisation`s internal and external business processes," says Adrian Schofield, CompTIA international sales and marketing director. "The CDIA programme was created by CompTIA and IT industry leaders in response to industry-wide demand for a generic certification that would create skills standards in this area and help organisations increase the efficiency and security of their document imaging solutions. Those who attain it can expect many industry opportunities along their individual employment and career path.
"CDIA-certified professionals demonstrate the requisite level of knowledge and expertise to plan, design and specify an imaging and document management solution," he continues. "The CDIA exam measures knowledge and achievement in ten areas, including Input/capture, Communications, Management, Display, Source document handling, Standard computing environments, Storage, Output, Analysis and Integration.
"We are very excited about Canon`s membership, and specifically of their sponsorship of their business partners to obtain the CDIA certification. In this way, they are enabling these companies to enhance their offering from within their own operations," Schofield concludes.
