Canon SA has opened a professional camera (PCS) programme, which it says offers extensive after-sales support and information for imaging professionals on their Canon equipment.

According to Canon, this programme is specifically designed for qualifying professional photographers or videographers using Canon equipment and offers a free replacement of a model or equivalent when it is in for repairs.

“We are extremely excited to be able to offer Canon users this very helpful programme which will effectively assist professional photographers to always be able to take photos with their Canon equipment, no matter what,” says Michelle Janse van Vuuren, marketing manager at Canon SA.

The programme operates on a three-tier membership basis to provide what Canon says is a programme that's more accessible, responsive, informative and tailor-made for the needs of individual PCS members.

“The introduction of the multiple levels of membership is designed to allow for a greater number of professional photographers to qualify for the benefits of PCS support,” Canon says.

The PCS system offers three types of membership to professional photographers, plus a PCS Video membership for qualifying videographers, depending on the qualifying equipment registered with the scheme.

Silver status is attainable by having the following equipment: one of the following bodies: 40D, 50D, 7D as the primary and either 20D, 30D, 40D, 50D, or 7D as a second. Silver members require two L-series lenses or one L-series and one EFS f2.8 lens.
