When Canon South Africa launched its S Series Bubble Jet printers in May 2001, the company expected a phenomenal response to the new products. However, the sales of the S Series have exceeded even our most ambitious expectations.
"Keeping up with the demand has been a challenge, as sales have literally skyrocketed and in some channels our forecasts have been tripled," says Jennifer Gruwell, Product Manager for Printers and Scanners at Canon SA.
"We have put a lot of effort into educating the public on the benefits of using Single Ink technology and we are thrilled at how receptive both the channel and end-users have been to the launch of the S Series," added Gruwell.
The range comprises five models, all of which make use of Canon`s unique Single Ink Tank technology. This innovative system provides individual ink tanks for each colour, so when the user runs out of one colour they need replace only that colour. Unlike combined ink-tank systems, there is no need to throw away an often half-full cartridge when only a single colour runs out. By using individually replaceable tanks for each colour, these printers virtually eliminate ink wastage and reduce the cost per page.
The entry-level S400 is a versatile and creative printer well suited for everything from school projects to business presentations. At 1440dpi, the S400 provides fast, affordable performance, superior photo quality prints and print speeds of up to 9ppm (pages per minute) in mono and 4ppm in colour.
The personal, high speed S450 can print 10ppm, making it the fastest1 monochrome printer in its class. With 1440dpi, colour print speeds of up to 7ppm and Single Ink tank technology, this model provides a high quality, no waste print solution that will meet the needs of the most demanding SOHO user.
The S4500 wide format A3 printer brings creative freedom to any office or graphic business. A3 printing with superior speed of delivery, 9ppm in mono and 6ppm in colour, and Single Ink tank technology make the S4500 the ideal high performance model for business use.
The Bubble Jet S600, with a newly developed true 1200dpi print head, and speeds of up to 15ppm in mono and 10ppm in colour is the ideal professional colour printer for advanced users. Microfine Droplet Technology, high colour inks and advanced printer driver functionality ensure rich colours and high quality images across all paper types.
At the top of the range is the award-winning S800 photo printer. A combination of advanced technologies such as 2400dpi x 1200dpi, 1/6 density photo inks, new High Colour inks and advanced Microfine Droplet Technology, ensures that the Bubble Jet S800 delivers exceptional quality printouts, able to rival traditional silver halide photos. At under two minutes per A4 print, the S800 is the ideal model for imaging professionals.
