In line with the current industry requirement to provide a scalable cost-effective Application Service Provider (ASP) solution within supply chain management, Cargo Carriers has acquired TWO Inc. Consulting. This follows a growth strategy within Cargo Carriers to provide extended value-add services to the broader logistics industry.
Through utilising IT infrastructure and skills, the acquisition allows the leveraging of these assets across the broad spectrum of other Cargo initiatives, such as CargoSolutions. This translates into comprehensive services and product offerings to existing and potential customers extending to Supply Chain Solutions, transport, warehousing, hosting of applications etc.
TWO Inc. Consulting has been a Value Added Reseller (VAR) for Great Plains over the last 10 years and is the recipient of various international Sales and Service Awards, including the Presidents Club award three times. "Two Inc has always offered software and services which allows customers to run their business more effectively. Their acquisition by Cargo Carriers only strengthens their ability to offer the web-ready, solid financial tools which are at the core of Microsoft Great Plains," says Chris Harris, managing director of Microsoft Great Plains Middle East Africa. The hosting of applications will enable Cargo Ware to offer a far broader range of services to companies including tracking; e-mail; maintenance analysis and accounting software.
Microsoft`s acquisition of Great Plains provides further impetus for growth within the Supply Chain ASP environment and the ASP Licence allows companies to have access to best of breed software on a rental basis without the massive costs of an IT infrastructure.
For the past 46 years, Cargo Carriers has consistently been one of the leading trucking companies in South Africa. Today, this JSE listed company operate a large fleet across Southern Africa in the agricultural, petroleum, steel, beverages and powders industries, amongst others. Cargo Carriers owns a large network of branches across the country, and are pioneers in the application of information technology in the logistics industry.
It is this IT infrastructure and skills base which is being leveraged to diversify the service offering into the more strategic, value-add services and products arena. CargoSolutions was established as a supply chain optimization and management service provider. CargoWare is the vehicle for providing hosted, logistics related software applications to the industry, whilst eCargo is an e-commerce initiative linking load owners and carriers via the Internet and emerging electronic peripherals.
