A credit card-size USB storage device that holds up to 1GB of data allows business presentations, spreadsheets, text and e-mails to be carried around in a purse or wallet, just like billions of people worldwide carry their credit cards.
The Freecom USBcard is distributed locally by information and communications technology specialist, the JSE-listed Square One Solutions Group. Apart from serious business data, it can also store music, streaming videos, photographs, games and Internet downloads.
"It is the ultimate in affordable portability," says Hester Pescivolo, manager of Freecom products at Square One Solutions. "With a 5MB/second transfer speed the USBcard is the fastest flash solution available. No drivers or cables are required and the card is USB2.0 compliant and can also be connected to USB1.1 ports."
The USB cable is integrated into the ultra-thin card for carrying convenience. The integrated cable is flicked out to facilitate data transfer and simply pushed back when the exercise is completed. It is compatible with PCs, notebooks, Macs and Linux and allows cross-platform sharing.
"Dimensions are such that the USBcard fits into all credit card holders. It weighs just 20 grams and is supplied pre-loaded with a software suite including Password Lock, Automail, Auto Run and Secure & Zip," says Pescivolo. A free lost and found service is offered on www.buscard.com, where users can retrieve their lost product.
The USBcard can also be customised with a three-dimensional company logo, promotional text and company presentations, catalogues, Web sites, press releases and data sheets stored in the memory.
