Cartonnages Larr'e cuts costs, goes green

Cartonnages Larr'e is the first paperboard company in France to install Kodak Thermal Direct Non Process Plates, reports Packaging Essentials.

The investment significantly trims costs by eliminating processing chemistry, furthering the company's aim to be environmentally responsible.

“Completely eliminating processing chemistry was the main attraction for us,” explains Hugues Larr'e, chief executive, Cartonnages Larr'e. “Cutting out processing chemistry, the costs incurred in reprocessing the baths, and the maintenance costs for the processor has allowed us to balance our plates budget and boost our green credentials at the same time.”

TextStream wins printing deals

TextStream, Baker & Taylor's digital printing service division, signed deals to provide print-on-demand services to Fordham University Press, University of North Carolina Press, and Penn State Press, reports Graphic Arts Online.

The deals allow the printing company to print and fulfil orders for the Publish America's catalogue of more than book 40 000 titles. The unit provides publishers with a full range of print-on-demand and short-run digital printing services with a wide variety of formats and options.

"Three highly regarded university presses have put their trust - and the hard work of their scholarly authors - in the hands of Baker & Taylor's TextStream," says David Cully, president of markets and merchandising/digital media services and executive VP of Baker & Taylor.

AS migrates to EFI

AS Hospitality has purchased the EFI Pace print management solution to help improve productivity and streamline communication between multiple sites, reports Graphic Repro.

AS Hospitality replaced its cumbersome combination of older systems after investigating several print MIS options. AS Hospitality selected EFI Pace because of its browser-based interface, reporting tools, the ability to customise features, and the system's unique modular approach.

EFI Pace is a fully integrated, browser-based print shop management program that includes software modules for estimating, scheduling, production, accounting, sales management and e-commerce.
