Computer Associates International, Inc (CA) today announced that the Swedish School of Economics is utilising CA`s AllFusion Process Modeler as the foundation for its contribution to the European Union`s (EU) Scientific Information Exchange (SciX) project.
The Swedish School of Economics in Helsinki is one of six universities in Europe working on the SciX project, which will leverage the Internet to improve the way some five million articles and publications are shared across the scientific community each year.
CA`s AllFusion Process Modeler is a high-performance modelling tool that supports a wide range of advanced modelling techniques. It easily creates business, functional, workflow and data-flow models and maps these models to enterprise information architectures and organizational structures. It is also ideal for comparing cost/performance ratios for various proposed models.
Using CA`s AllFusion Process Modeler, the university`s project engineers can quickly create, test, and evaluate highly complex models to discover methods for sharing research that are technically and economically superior to those in use today. AllFusion Process Modeler also allows engineers to easily implement modifications that are automatically propagated throughout the rest of the model - enabling immediate impact analysis.
"Our research requires us to build models of incredible complexity - with more than 50 process steps and numerous sub-processes in each step - under tight deadlines," said Bo-Christer Bj"ork, professor of Information Systems Science at the Swedish School of Economics. "CA`s AllFusion Process Modeler is uniquely able to deliver the speed and functionality we desperately need for the SciX assignment."
Ease of use was also a key requirement given the finite resources and time constraints of the project. "After just a couple of hours of training, our staff members were confidently utilizing AllFusion Process Modeler to build SciX models," said Bj"ork.
The Swedish School of Economics licensed AllFusion Process Modeler from Ravenholm Computing, a CA reseller and a leading software vendor in the Nordic region.
"Speed, performance, and usability are just as critical to the scientific and academic communities as they are to commercial customers," said Per Kogut, Managing Director, CA Nordic. "We are honoured that the Swedish School of Economics selected CA technology to play such an important role in the SciX initiative."
The Swedish School of Economics was founded in 1909 and is one of three business schools of university standing in Finland. Its right to award doctoral degrees was acquired in 1944. The university focuses on close cooperation with the business community and with other universities and schools in Finland, and continues to extend its international liaisons. It also takes part in SOCRATES/ERASMUS and EU research programs, as well as the NORDPLUS and TEMPUS initiatives. Student enrolment is approximately 2 200, with a teaching and research staff of 110.
