Computer Associates International, Inc`s enterprise infrastructure management (EIM) strategy, which delivers the industry`s most complete, integrated and open management software solutions, is helping customers cope with pressing IT challenges such as enterprise security, cost control, business continuity and infrastructure optimisation, CA Executive Vice-President Mark Barrenechea said today.
Under EIM, CA is providing customers with modular, integrated software solutions for operations, security, storage, lifecycle and service management, using a common set of services and a common management database. By eliminating the inefficiencies inherent in fragmented approaches to management, EIM minimises enterprise technology ownership costs while providing CIOs with the visibility and control to maximise the effectiveness of their enterprise IT environments.
"IT organisations have a rapidly diminishing tolerance for the complexity, cost and delayed time-to-benefit associated with piecing together point products from multiple management vendors," Barrenechea said during a keynote address at the CIBC World Markets Fourth Annual Enterprise Software Conference in New York City. "CA`s EIM solutions eliminate the expense and operational headaches of integration - enabling our customers to enjoy the benefits that result when data and workflows can seamlessly flow across server, network, application, storage and security management."
Barrenechea underscored a variety of solution growth areas for CA - including security management, service management and asset management - and said a wide range of industry trends, such as the growing need for infrastructure security management, are playing directly into CA`s strengths.
As another example, he said the volume of data CA`s customers need to manage is growing by approximately 50% to 70% annually - while the financial and human resources available for managing that data is rising only by 20% to 30%. This gap makes the storage management solutions under CA`s EIM portfolio extremely attractive to customers.
Barrenechea highlighted a number of CA customer successes to demonstrate the effectiveness of the company`s EIM solutions. Walter Reed Army Medical Centre, for example, has saved $1.8 million and significantly reduced risk by automating the discovery and remediation of vulnerabilities with CA`s asset management and software delivery solutions. Another CA customer, Sol Melia, has increased sales 200% using a highly available Web-based system developed with CA`s application lifecycle management solutions.
