Computer Associates International, Inc (CA) has announced the availability of enhanced versions of two complementary Unicenter networking management solutions for ensuring the network availability and performance for critical mainframe-based e-business applications.
By optimising network performance, both Unicenter NetSpy Network Performance and Unicenter NetMaster Network Management for TCP/IP enable CA customers to gain maximum value from their data centre investments. Managing TCP/IP and SNA network performance has become increasingly important as corporate customers and service providers continue to leverage mainframe computing to build highly scalable and reliable e-business environments.
Unicenter NetSpy Network Performance Version 6.0 delivers a fully integrated view of both TCP/IP and SNA mainframe networks, providing detailed performance metrics that enable organisations to detect and correct problems before they can impact e-business activity. The new release provides extensive TCP/IP performance instrumentation to help network administrators understand network utilisation, monitor service levels, and plan for future growth.
Users can measure the performance of a wide range of networking technologies, including Open Systems Adapter (OSA), CISCO Channel Interface Protocol (CIP) routers, Communication Services Manager (CSM), Telnet and FTP.
Unicenter NetMaster for TCP/IP Version 6.2 provides an integrated set of diagnostics, performance reporting, and access control capabilities to help organisations maintain reliable network connections to mainframe applications and data through proactive monitoring, diagnosis, and performance management of TCP/IP network devices, events and sessions.
The new version includes diagnostic and performance support for Gigabit Open Systems Adapter (OSA) devices, which provide high-speed communications to z/OS and OS/390 systems. It also features advanced node discovery capabilities to speed implementation and accelerate return-on-investment.
Unicenter NetSpy Network Performance seamlessly integrates with Unicenter NetMaster Network Management for TCP/IP to provide a single point-of-control for performance monitoring and management, resulting in faster resolution of network problems and improved service levels.
