Computer Associates International, Inc (NYSE: CA) has announced Unicenter Database Management r11 for DB2 UDB for Linux, Unix and Windows (LUW), a comprehensive and extensible solution that enables organisations to optimise and streamline database operations across multi-platform environments.
The latest addition to CA`s industry-leading Unicenter database management solutions portfolio, the new suite integrates the advanced capabilities of best-in-class solutions to seamlessly manage DB2 UDB for LUW database environments from design through production - streamlining workflow and boosting team productivity.
With r11, customers can unload data from large databases and transport it more quickly to other databases or applications, thereby accelerating business processes and increasing the scalability of their data centre architectures. An intuitive browser-based management console simplifies the unloading of large databases for increased operational efficiency.
"What enterprises need is a single set of automated, integrated tools for management of information repositories that defines their businesses, across the entire lifecycle of management," said Michael Dortch, principal business analyst at Robert Frances Group (RFG).
"With the release of new technology for managing DB2 UDB across Linux, Unix and Windows platforms, Computer Associates provides a single-source solution that manages databases together, enabling the constant flow of information that drives business success."
Unicenter Database Management for DB2 UDB for LUW includes technology for:
* Optimising database design, accelerating deployment of database-driven applications, and reducing errors to increase quality.
* Developing, testing and managing SQL and server-side database code.
* Monitoring and analysing database performance metrics from a single point-of-control.
* Streamlining and automating daily administration tasks ranging from a simple "create" to complex compare-and-synchronise operations.
* Extracting database information quickly and reliably.
"Customers need better ways to manage their distributed DB2 environments while controlling infrastructure costs," said David Schipper, director of product management, database tools at CA. "CA has directly addressed this challenge by enhancing our Unicenter Database Management solution with new technology, expanded DB2 UDB for LUW support, and improved simplicity."
CA`s family of Unicenter Database Management solutions provide advanced product technologies and integration to effectively manage growing DB2 and IMS for z/OS database environments, as well as Oracle, DB2 and Microsoft SQL Server databases in distributed Linux, Unix and Windows environments. Licensed under tiered server and user-based pricing, the solutions are available through CA`s direct sales force and partners.
