Durban-based Casey Progressive, part of the JSE-listed Casey group of companies, has announced the conclusion of a software contract with local government and housing in Pietermaritzburg that includes the provision of a two-year Corel WordPerfect software maintenance agreement for 700 users. The contract is worth an estimated R750 000.
This was confirmed by Casey Progressive`s MD, Jeanette Bean, who said the company is actively focusing on government and local government sectors. While government sales currently account for about 5% of total revenues - with sales to the tertiary sector making up the lion`s share - the company expects government sales to double over the next 24 months.
Bean said the maintenance agreement will cover upgrades on behalf of local government and housing for the next two years, including for the recently-released Corel WordPerfect Office 2000.
The 700 users are currently running of a Novell local area network.
