Casey, the JSE-listed technology and black empowerment group, has won a R1.3 million tender with the National Electronic Media Institute of SA (NEMISA) for the supply of a new IT infrastructure at the institute`s new head office building in Parktown, Johannesburg.
The contract called for Casey to oversee the project management, design and installation of the company`s new Microsoft NT network. Gordon van der Merwe, departmental manager for Casey Business Solutions (CBS), the newly-launched software and services arm of the Casey group, said the company is to provide NEMISA with 148 network points for future expansion on the network. Initially a total of 83 Pentium-based PCs are to be installed, as well an ISDN line, three 3300 3Com switches, Internet connections and a state-of-the-art security firewall.
Besides managing the overall installation, CBS will also be offering after-installation training on overall network administration.
