CCH Hosted Services, a division of the CCH Group, has partnered with Woolworths to provide business continuity to the business community in the Western Cape, through the establishnment of a fully advanced recovery centre in Cape Town.
Morris Kotzen, managing director of CCH Hosted Services, places the deal`s worth at R12m and explains that while CCH Hosted Services provided the expertise, Woolworths accommodated the establishment of the recovery centre with its existing infrastructure. "The main aim is to provide companies contracted to us with business continuity in the event of a disaster," he comments.
"Our joint venture with Woolworths has provided us with the cost economy to establish business continuity for CCH Hosted Services clients in the Western Cape," Kotzen continues. "While Woolworths is CCH Hosted Services` lead client, the recovery centre is already developing a sizeable client base in the Western Cape, including such clients as Truworths, Levi Strauss and Gensec," he adds.
"Business continuity is critical for us and CCH`s recovery centre provides us with the assurance we`re looking for," says Richard Inskip, Woolworth IT director. "It is well equipped to accommodate our individual software and hardware systems configurations. Furthermore the centre is access-controlled, security-monitored and is supported by an uninterrupted power supply, ensuring that our data, staff and possessions are secure."
The 2300m^2 Recovery Centre provides full hardware recovery with an IBM compatible mainframe, Intel and Unix Servers, and other proprietary midrange servers. The centre accommodates 100 office recovery seats, and is the only call centre disaster recovery facility in the Western Cape.
"With business continuity and 100% up-time being the main priority, CCH Hosted Services is committed to ensuring the resumption of normal business activities for Woolworths within 3 hours in the event of a disaster," concludes Kotzen.
