When Agri SA was given the chance to cut monthly phone charges, the company gave its supplier, CCI Technology Holdings, immediate go-ahead to install an Avaya EuroGeneris PABX system, featuring least-cost routing (LCR).
CCI, a national specialist in computer cabling, networks, voice and building management systems, has been a Lucent/Avaya partner since January last year. The integrator`s CEO, Steve Pinkney, says the savings generated by the voice switching system will on average be 10% per month.
"Agri SA was offered cheaper cell rates, which we were able to do in conjunction with Smartcom, a company that needed a suitable platform on which to deliver its solution. This translates to a substantial saving per month," Pinkney says. The installation cost R160 000.
The Avaya EuroGeneris Advanced Communication System offers an ISDN open telephony platform for small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), featuring systems catering for any companies with between five and 128 extensions.
Says Pinkney, "Agri SA`s offices in Pretoria were equipped with the Avaya EuroGeneris ACS, linking 75 extensions, who now enjoy the cost-savings of cheaper landline-to-cellphone costs. They were also given new Avaya telephones to get full advantage of the LCR benefits."
Other advantages include CCI`s ability to maintain and troubleshoot the system remotely. "The administrator simply dials in via modem to the system, and corrects any problems that may occur," adds Pinkney.
Kobus Visser, Director of Infrastructure and Governmental Services at Agri SA, says CCI had representatives on-site at all times to ensure the smooth transition to the new system, and that Agri SA received good service from them.
