SA`s third mobile operator, Cell C, has reduced weekend prices for subscribers calling other users on the same by 50%.

This means that all "Cell C subscribers can now chat to other Cell C subscribers for only 50c a minute at the weekend," it says in a statement.

The mobile operator has labelled this campaign "Woza Weekend" and says postpaid and "controlchat" subscribers automatically qualify for this rate.

Prepaid subscribers, however, need to have a minimum balance of R15 in their account to qualify for these rates.

"We have always believed in offering our customers the best and most affordable products and services. This slash in call rates is yet another effort to reward our more than three million customers, and it also showcases our commitment to our core value proposition of offering our customers simplicity, choice and, more importantly, value," says Simon Camerer, Cell C`s executive head of marketing.

Cell C`s Woza Weekend offering pre-empts the introduction of mobile number portability on 10 November, which the operator believes will ensure Cell C remains top of mind with consumers when they consider porting.
