

BlackBerry's new mid-range five-inch smartphone, the Z3, is now available online and in store from Cell C, on the Smart Chat 1GB service plan from R189 per month.
The handset, launched locally in early July, runs on the latest BlackBerry 10 operating system, 10.2.1 and features Android app accessibility and a 2 500mAh battery.
The phone became available around mid-July, on Vodacom's Smart S plan (R249 per month) and at a recommended retail price of R2 999. At the time BlackBerry MD for Africa Yudi Moodley said the device would will be available from MTN and Cell C shortly afterwards.
Key features of the BlackBerry Z3 include the BlackBerry Hub and BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) with voice and video chatting. Also available on BBM is Screen Share and support for BlackBerry Natural Sound.
The Z3 keyboard learns the owner's unique word use and offers them on screen for ease of typing. It also has multi-language support - including Afrikaans - that allows users to type in up to three different languages at the same time.
The BlackBerry Z3's camera features Time Shift and Story Maker, through which users can bring a collection of photos and videos together, and add music and effects.
The device also has a built-in FM radio, which does not require network connection for local stations.
The smartphone was first unveiled to the globe in February and was then launched to the Indonesian market in April - a region where it proved popular, according to Martin Fick, senior product manager for Africa at BlackBerry.
