Both towns will now have access to faster Internet connections via the HSPA+ 900 network.

"We have covered all the major metro cities in the country, and the launch in Paarl and Wellington marks the start of the second phase of our roll-out covering smaller towns across the country," says Cell C's executive head of marketing, Simon Camerer.

Cell C says the network upgrades are likely to also benefit the surrounding areas as the 900MHz frequency provides for wider coverage and deeper indoor penetration.

The service provider also recently upgraded its network in Kimberly and Mafikeng.

Cell C currently covers 63% of the South African population and says it is on track to reach its goal of 97% coverage by year-end.
