Cell C has added two new BlackBerry service plans to its growing portfolio of offerings.

SA's third mobile operator today announced the introduction of two tailored BlackBerry products “to give customers more choice of plans tailored to their needs and pockets” -BlackBerry Social and BlackBerry Social and E-mail.

The BlackBerry Social plan, says Cell C, is for customers who primarily engage on social networks. At R27 per month, it connects customers to Facebook, Twitter and other social networks. Customers also get access to BlackBerry Messenger (BBM), one BlackBerry e-mail account (username@cellc.blackberry.com), Internet access and the ability to download applications via BlackBerry App World.

According to Cell C, the BlackBerry Social and E-mail plan is designed for Internet access, e-mail and social connectivity. At R37 per month, the plan includes access to one third-party e-mail account (for example Yahoo, Hotmail or Gmail) in addition to the benefits included in the BlackBerry Social plan.

services [which] includes access to the Internet, BBM, social networking sites, BlackBerry App World and up to 10 supported corporate and personal e-mail accounts.”

Karin Fourie, Cell C's executive head of communications, says the new plans are intended to offer flexibility and provide customers with access to “everything they need - without paying for anything they don't require”.

The new service plans are available as of today. Customers can opt into either service plan via USSD code *147# or via a customer service agent.

Cell C says prepaid and top-up customers can activate the new BlackBerry service plans on a once-off/non-recurring service or a monthly recurring service, which will be valid for 30 days.

“Postpaid customers can only subscribe as a monthly recurring service. If a subscriber wishes to terminate the service prior to the 30 days expiration date, they will lose all the benefits with immediate effect.”
