Channel Data, one of South Africa`s leading providers of technology data storage hardware and management software to the reseller channel, is pleased to announce the immediate availability of Exabyte`s EZ17 Mammoth Tape Autoloader, designed to deliver a convenient storage solution to Windows NT users.
Brian Simpkins, managing director of Channel Data, comments, "Globally, the EZ17 is one of the most exciting products to be introduced to the data storage market. In my opinion, no other product on the market can begin to compete with the reliability of the EZ17. The speed at which it captures data, coupled with its exceptionally low retail price, competitively positions it in the local storage market - the product retails for approximately R50 000. EZ17 has received a significant response from the pre-press and security environments, where it is necessary to capture consistently large amounts of data."
The EZ17 is the ideal first step into automated data storage. The autoloader accommodates one Mammoth M2 tape drive and seven Exatape AME cartridges in a removable magazine, offering unattended access to over 1 TB* of data at a rate of up to 108 GB* per hour (* compressed) with a cartridge access speed of less than 10 seconds.
A Mammoth2 based autoloader; the EZ17 targets the distributed network environments including small offices, remote installations, small LANs or workgroups, or large single-application servers. The EZ17 provides users with an entry point into Mammoth and 8mm automation, particularly suitable for PC and Unix servers. For companies with lower capacities and performance requirements, the EZ17 is also available with a Mammoth or Mammoth-LT tape drive. Exabyte robotics automat backup procedures, eliminate operator error and dramatically cut data management costs.
