Channel Data, one of South Africa's leading specialist technology distributors, has launched a specialised training centre at its Sandton-based head office. The training centre will focus on providing the channel with skill sets and hardware training to allow resellers to differentiate themselves in an increasingly complex market.
Brian Simpkins, MD of Channel Data, comments, "Data storage is increasingly becoming a competitive sector in the IT industry. The range of products being launched expands at a rapid rate, and it is imperative that resellers are able to understand not only the benefits of the products, but also their operating mechanisms. As a leading distributor to the reseller channel, we see it as our responsibility to enhance the channel's knowledge on storage products and their diverse applications. The curricula that we have developed will allow the resellers to become conversant in storage area network devices and peripherals, thereby giving them the competitive edge in the market."
Channel Data has been conducting a number of courses since November 1999. However, due to increased interest expressed for additional courses, the company decided to set up a specialised training centre to meet market demand. To date, support received from the channel has been extremely positive. Channel Data's training centre will allow the company to provide a superior level of training to the channel through a curricula which covers data storage components including fibre channel, storage area network (SAN), network attached storage (NAS), backup automation and RAID.
Channel Data, founded in 1988, is one of South Africa's leading specialist technology distributors. The company provides superior high technology data storage hardware and management software to the reseller channel. Channel Data changed its operating name from SI Distribution to Channel Data on the 1 July 2000.
