Official South African distributor, Channel Data has announced the immediate availability of EMC`s backup and recovery software EMC Dantz Retrospect 7 for Windows to local partners and companies.
Retrospect 7 now includes new wizards that make it easier for small and midsize businesses (SMBs) and the distributive enterprise to obtain reliable, automated data protection for servers, desktops, and notebooks.
Improved disk-to-disk-to-tape capabilities also deliver faster backups and restores, providing companies with a complete end-to-end self-maintaining data protection strategy that further simplifies offsite media management.
"The latest version of Retrospect 7 offers key enhancements that will enable SMBs and SOHO users to easily achieve improved and reliable data protection with easy-to-use wizards and all-important functionality," says Amit Parbhucharan, technology marketing director at Channel Data.
This latest version of Retrospect for Windows offers the following enhancements and features:
* A synthetic full backup feature that creates new full backups from existing data without having to back up the original computers again;
* Data grooming which ensures that backups to disk do not exceed the assigned disk capacity;
* Fibre Channel and iSCSI tape backup device support;
* Support for the latest releases of Red Hat Linux, SUSE LINUX, and Mac OS X;
* The ability to back up and restore individual Microsoft Exchange Server public folders;
* Support for AES-128 encryption, making backup data far more secure than DES encryption and twice as fast.
