Chelsio, IBM partner
Chelsio Communications, a provider of 10-Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) adapters and ASIC solutions, has entered into an agreement with IBM on high-speed Ethernet connectivity solutions for a wide range of networking applications, reports PR Newswire.
This agreement is expected to accelerate the development and industry availability of 10GbE adapters and ASIC solutions enabling the next generation IO designs targeted at the enterprise.
"IBM is pleased with the opportunity to work with Chelsio's engineering team and their Terminator Chip technology as part of this agreement," says Kelvin Hawkins, vice president, Power Systems Development of IBM. "We expect this relationship to help yield high performance Ethernet solutions and address IO virtualisation and protocol offloads that will be very critical for our future data centres."
PTO rejects patents claims
The US Patent & Trademark Office (PTO) has issued a preliminary re-examination report rejecting all claims of patent number 7 173 923, one of four patents asserted against Aruba Networks a provider global leader in wireless LANs and secure mobility solutions by Motorola in 2007, says Earthtimes.
The patent was originally issued to Symbol Technologies prior to its acquisition by Motorola.
In rejecting all sixteen of the patent's claims, and provided that the preliminary finding is made final, the PTO's decision would invalidate the entire patent.
