China gets fixed-mobile health service

IVT, a global supplier of Bluetooth software and fixed-mobile convergence solutions, has started a mobile health service in China, reports TMCnet.

According to the company, its S120 mobile phone uses fixed-mobile convergence with a fixed-lined telephone via a wireless PSTN access point. The mobile phone can be used as a cordless phone to make or receive fixed-line calls.

Users can utilise the system to record their personal health data in a database using an online network platform. All health data can be accessed remotely by hospitals and emergency centres.

HP, Cisco lock horns

HP ProCurve is pushing towards being a formidable player against data centre convergence and rivals such as Cisco Systems, states Channel Web.

ProCurve has unveiled its 6120XG Blade Switch, and also made additions to its existing ProCurve 8200 and 5400 Ethernet switch products.

HP is trumpeting ProCurve as a lower-cost alternative to Cisco equipment, which comes at a time when Cisco is stepping into a market with its unified computing system, an area in which HP is dominant in.

Iogear brings devices to the couch

Iogear has rolled out its HDMI control centre which centralises devices at the TV, says Blast Magazine.

The device comes with a wireless keyboard with a built in laser trackball allowing users to easily navigate, switch, and interact with all their HDMI peripherals.

Users can switch from a Blu-ray movie to a computer connected to their HDTV, type and send a quick e-mail, then switch back and continue the movie all from the device's remotes. The device works with game consoles, set-top boxes, Blu-ray and DVD players and media servers/computers.
