China unveils e-payment

China Post has unveiled its long-awaited third-party e-payment platform Wang Hui Tong, reports China Tech News.

The Wang Hui Tong card is being sold at more than 3 000 booths across Beijing and is initially being used to pay for online gaming.

Different from other e-payment platforms like 99bill and Alipay, the Wang Hui Tong card looks like a games point card, with specifications and logos of the relevant games it supports on the back.

CommSecure plants trees

Australian e-billing solutions company CommSecure planted 620 native trees and shrubs in Loyal Henry Park, Roseville, to mark the country's National Tree Day and raise awareness about environmental issues among its staff, clients and , reports Computer World.

CommSecure's CEO Peter Townsley says a move to e-billing would save around 1.2 million trees each year, while dramatically improving the efficiency and speed of billing and payment processes for both companies and individuals.

"There is no benefit for companies in continuing to rely on traditional paper billing systems when there are far more efficient, cost-effective and eco-sensitive solutions available," he said. "Australians consume a huge amount of paper every year by printing and mailing invoices and that carries an enormous fiscal and environmental cost."

OpenEMM gets an upgrade

OpenEMM, professional e-mail marketing software based on open source standards, is available in a new version, reports Thomas Net.

The software allows e-mail marketing campaigns to be set up, carried out, administered and evaluated in a user-friendly fashion. The strengths of the software lie in its target group-specific approach, its campaign management and its real-time tools.

OpenEMM 5.1 offers archiving with individualised newsletters for the recipients, evaluations for multistage mailing campaigns, different file attachments sent depending on the target group, and an online version update check.
