Choice Technologies has launched an SMS campaign that it hopes will help to bring the 2010 FIFA World Cup to SA.
The announcement of the host nation for 2010 - the first time the World Cup will be held in Africa - is due on 14 May, and Choice has launched an SMS petition campaign, which aims to involve all South Africans.
South Africans await the decision with bated breath. Should the World Cup be awarded to SA, the impact from a socio-economic perspective will be massive, as a vast number of temporary and permanent jobs would be created.
"SA narrowly missed out on hosting the 2006 tournament and we believe passionately that the time is right for it to come home," says Semela Tseka, CEO of the Choice Group.
"If people want to be part of the process of bringing the biggest single sporting showcase to SA they can - all they need to do is to send an SMS support message to 35115 with their name and surname."
Tseka says the results of the petition will be sent to the FIFA World Cup Committee, in order to demonstrate SA`s enthusiasm to host the prestigious tournament.
"As a supporter of the bid we look forward to your participation in carrying the message through to all South Africans. Stand up SA and be heard today," says Tseka.
