Choice Technologies, a leading enterprise solutions provider, and TIBCO Software, a global business integration and process management software company, today announced they have partnered with Dynatech (part of the Smart Exchange initiative) to provide the eThekwini Municipality with a business process management (BPM) solution aimed at increasing organisational efficiency and driving down costs.
The initial stage of the project will be a proof of concept within the Department of Planning, which will subsequently lead to a full implementation in planning and other departments.
According to Gartner, BPM is about capturing and leveraging knowledge from across the organisation to make better informed decisions and to innovate new ways of doing work.
The solution, which is currently being implemented by Choice Technologies, is a real-time BPM solution that will allow the municipality to improve service delivery to its citizens. Real-time access to live information will enable the municipality to make better decisions faster and improve operational and financial performance.
Lunga Madlala, Chief Information Officer at the eThekwini Municipality, says: "This strategic implementation is inline with government`s Bathopele initiative of service delivery to the people. We believe that by streamlining our processes and increasing our organisational efficiency, we will be in a better position to be able to fulfil this strategic intent."
Patrick Makhubedu, executive director of Choice Technologies, says: "If vital information is not where it is needed, then organisations such as the municipality can`t adapt business processes quickly and opportunities are lost. The most strategic benefit of the implementation of this system will be evident at a service delivery level, something that is high on the government`s agenda. When this system is fully implemented then it`s quite possible that this model of service delivery could be used as a blueprint for other municipalities across South Africa."
Another key benefit of the solution is streamlining business processes and developing a best practice methodology that works specifically for the municipality. "Improved processes mean improved services," says Makhubedu.
