Cisco appoints former Vodafone chief
Cisco Systems has appointed Arun Sarin, former CEO of Vodafone, to its board, says Bloomberg.
Sarin served as a Cisco director from 1998 to 2003. Sarin has also led Accel-KKR Telecom, InfoSpace and AirTouch International.
“No one knows mobility and telecommunications better than Arun and we're glad to have him rejoin our board,” says Cisco CEO John Chambers.
SSA gets new CIO
The Social Security Administration (SSA) in the US has hired Frank Baitman, a former business strategist with IBM, as its new CIO, reports InformationWeek.
Baitman, who joined the agency at the end of August, has years of business and IT experience, but none as a CIO. At the SSA, he's running an organisation with a $1.3 billion IT budget.
Baitman is in charge of IT capital planning, investment control, e-government, and cyber security at SSA.
SwiftKnowledge hires VP
SwiftKnowledge, a global provider of Web-based business intelligence software, has appointed software industry veteran Matthew Connon as vice-president, states Your Story.
Connon has more than 10 years of business development and original equipment manufacturer sales experience in the software industry, including more than three years as vice-president of OEM sales at Fast, a Microsoft company.
Connon grew Fast's annual OEM revenues to more than $10 million, and led Fast's OEM product, marketing and sales strategies.
