
Cisco, Brocade push centre convergence
Enterprises remain undecided on whether to pursue data centre network convergence, particularly with fibre channel over Ethernet, but networking vendors continue to push the technology, reports Search Networking.com.
Cisco Systems and Brocade have both unveiled products this week that they claim help enterprises ease the transition to convergence.
Brocade says its Network Advisor is the first application on the market that offers a unified management approach to IP (wired, wireless LAN and MPLS), storage area networks and converged networks.
China convergence propels investment
Triple network convergence in China is expected to deliver investment totalling $102 billion, states Digit Times Telecom.
The Chinese government has actively been pushing for the convergence of the country's three big networks; the Internet, telecoms networks, and TV broadcasting networks.
Earlier this year, China rolled out the Triple Network Convergence Policy, which makes a step towards granting permission for TV broadcasting firms and telecoms carriers to enter and do business in each other's realms.
Sprint unveils fixed-mobile convergence service
Sprint has introduced its latest fixed-mobile convergence service called Wholesale Mobile Integration, says US Strategies.
The service allows Sprint's wholesale customers to integrate the wireline and wireless voice networks of business customers, delivering them a converged solution.
The Wholesale Mobile Integration solution is a collaboration between Sprint and Broadsoft to bring together wireless and voice-over-Internet protocol elements for customers. The end result is aimed at providing end-users with mobile unified communications.
