Cisco, Fujitsu collaborate on centres
Cisco Systems and Fujitsu Siemens will target European data centres through a partnership, with the promise of making life easier for IT managers, reports TMCNet.com.
Cisco will work with Fujitsu on combined data centre computing and storage systems. The collaboration initially is focused on the European and Asia-Pacific markets because of Fujitsu Siemens` account relationships, though the fruits of the collaboration will be available worldwide, says Cisco spokesperson Kristina Scott.
The companies are kicking off their work together by modifying a stackable Gigabit Ethernet switch from Cisco`s Catalyst line for integration as a blade in Fujitsu Siemens` Primergy BX600 line of blade servers, adds the article.
Symantec introduces Server Foundation
Symantec has introduced Veritas Server Foundation, a product family consisting of Veritas Configuration Manager and Veritas Provisioning Manager complemented by new features in Veritas Cluster Server.
"Veritas Server Foundation gives enterprise customers the ability to discover in detail what is running on all the servers in their data centre, actively manage and administer those servers, and ensure that mission critical applications running on those servers are always available," says Symantec in a press release.
