
Cisco intros mobile business tablet
In an unexpected move, Cisco CEO John Chambers has unveiled the Cius, a business-oriented mobile tablet device running the Android operating system capable of HD-quality video, states IT World Canada.
The device, showcased at the Cisco Live conference, is slightly smaller than Apple's iPad and will be officially rolled out in the first quarter of next year.
Cisco says the Cius will be a collaboration device for business users interested in wireless virtual desktop integration and will be interoperable with Cisco's telepresence system.
Nuxeo accelerates programme
Open source enterprise content management company Nuxeo has raised venture capital of $3.3 million from lead investor OTC Asset Management, reports TMCnet.
The investment is expected to help Nuxeo drive its Galaxy application channel partner programme. "Businesses are demanding flexible platforms and domain experts to build meaningful content-centric applications,” says Eric Barroca, CEO of Nuxeo.
“Using the open source Nuxeo Enterprise Platform, our partners are innovating and re-shaping the market by bringing specific ECM applications designed to address the diverse content challenges to companies of any size and multiple industries," he adds.
China toughens up game management
China's Ministry of Culture has drawn up a provisional rule on the management of online games, says China CSR.
China has given clear stipulations on the content, market segment, business activities, operational behaviours, management, and legal responsibilities of computer game vendors.
In addition, the new measure has set forth the basic principles of engaging in online games activities and concepts such as network games, online operation of computer games, and virtual currency, as well as rules on online game content management, protection of teenagers and virtual currency distribution.
