Cisco powers Russian 4G

Scartel, Russia's first provider of high-speed Internet, is offering access under the Yota brand and is powered by Cisco's latest mobility technologies, says CNN Money.

Yota's network provides service within the Sadovoye Ring in Moscow and at the Vassilyevsky Island and Petrogradsky District in St Petersburg.

The network will provide a platform for high-speed, 4G mobile services that will help make "on-the-move" broadband access available to more people.

Apani unveils EpiForce 3.5

Apani, a provider of -aware network solutions for large enterprises, has unveiled EpiForce 3.5, the newest version of its single-platform security solution for protecting both virtual and physical networks, states Dark Reading.

EpiForce 3.5 adds identity-based access control and encryption to create an identity-aware network that enforces security policy based on the identity of the connected user.

The intersection of several trends has made the enforcement of security policy based on user identity a requirement.

MetroCast selects RCN Metro solution

RCN Metro Optical Networks, a division of RCN and a provider of fibre optic-based network solutions, is providing a network connectivity solution for MetroCast to expand the communication company's reach from Connecticut to New Hampshire, reports CNN Money.

It also aims to reduce Internet interconnection costs and expand bandwidth speed from an OC-48 (2.5Gbps) to 10Gbps.

MetroCast, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Harron Communications, provides cable television, Internet and digital telephone services to residential and commercial subscribers located in nine states stretching from Mississippi to Maine.
