Cisco releases solutions

Cisco has released a series of technology solutions and multi-vendor architectures that will help retailers improve and reduce complexity of store systems, in addition to increasing employee productivity to enhance its customers' experience, says FOXNews.

Cisco is launching the Lean Architecture, which features IT improvements designed to help retailers reduce costs, enhance business flexibility and increase protection.

Additionally, Cisco is jointly announcing the expansion of the Cisco Payment Card Industry Validated Network Designs to the Internet edge and data centre environments.

Skyways, GuestLogix partner

The Skyways Group today entered into a multi-year agreement with Canadian company GuestLogix, for the provision of its Mobile Virtual Store on-board technology, states ITNews.

This includes wireless POS devices and application service to assist Skyways' attendants with on-board sales transactions and enhance Skyways' in-flight service.

The deal was secured in co-operation with Klarago AB, a Swedish airline caterer and wholly owned subsidiary of the Compass Group.

Metro implements RFID

IBM has worked with Metro to implement radio frequency identification (RFID) technology to improve the availability of products in its stores, enhance consumers' shopping experience, and boost supply chain performance, reports Fibre2fashion.

The companies are successfully using RFID in a system which tracks shipments from suppliers to warehouses, distribution centres and stores.

They are also teaming up on a customer-focused RFID project in one of Metro Galeria Kaufhof department stores.
