Cisco's Networking Academy achieves milestone
Cisco's Networking Academy has achieved a key milestone with a record 317% increase in the total number of students enrolled in Egypt in the past 12 months, says AME Info.
This brings the total number of Networking Academy students to almost 11 500 since the programme's inception.
Today, more than 10 years after the first Networking Academy opened in Cairo in 1997, the total number of academies has grown to 376 throughout the country.
Aptech opens training centre
Aptech has opened specialised hardware and networking training centres, called N-Power, at Alambagh and Sapru Marg in Lucknow, India, reports Economic Times.
These centres will promote awareness about the growing career opportunities in the hardware and networking industry.
"The booming Indian economy and increased PC penetration in all sectors has resulted in an increased demand for hardware and networking professionals throughout the country," said Ravi Dighe, head of N-Power.
US home networking increases
According to new research, more than half of US broadband users have some form of home network, says VNUnet.
Analyst firm ABI Research claimed the home network is no longer an early adopter technology, as increasing numbers of consumers use laptops, PCs, games consoles and WiFi-enabled mobiles in the home.
"Our research shows that more than a quarter of home network owners have a games console on their home network, while another 8% have connected their mobile phone," said ABI Research director Mike Wolf.
