Citrix enables virtual desktop self-service

Citrix Systems has released Citrix Dazzle for Windows and Mac, along with new versions of Citrix Receiver for Windows, Mac, iPhone, BlackBerry and Android, states Computer Business Review.

According to Citrix, the Dazzle gives corporate employees self-service access to an array of applications, desktops and content. Receiver is a lightweight software client that makes accessing virtual desktops and applications easier on any device.

Together, Dazzle and Receiver work with desktop virtualisation platform XenDesktop, to power self-service IT for virtual desktops, providing users in the enterprise access to their corporate desktops and applications.

Self-service spending steady

At the KioskCom Self Service Expo, representatives from technology research firm VDC Research Group discussed the state of the self-service industry as it moves toward a new year, says KioskMarketplace.

In a session entitled 'Analyst alert: analysis of the self-service kiosk industry and usability studies,' VDC executive VP Chris Rezendes said the firm's indicates the self-service industry has remained relatively healthy through the economic struggles of the past 18 months.

VDC's figures, derived from a survey of 400 self-service deployers, indicate that North American deployers invested nearly $3 billion in self-service hardware, software and services in 2008.

ePly looks into self-service

ePly Services, an online event registration software company based in North Vancouver, has begun allowing clients to set up their own registration forms using their new self-serve software, writes eNewsChannel.

Since the company started in 2001, ePly has always built registration forms for their clients based on the requirements that have been set out. The system that ePly used to build these forms was created in-house, and has evolved as client requirements and registration forms became more and more complex.

The self-serve software is another evolution of this system that was developed solely with the client user in mind. Now the software allows users to set-up and maintain their own registration forms via a simple to use interface.
